The Independent Voice Project
This is not just “talk”.
This is an important moment in our country’s history. Everyone knows that now. There are Tea Parties and other groups to keep the pressure on politicians. But who’s encouraging the media to play it straighter not only with political coverage, but also in matters of importance in every aspect of our lives? With coverage of business, education, and family? What gathering of citizens is here to let the media know we’re ready for the truth? That we insist on it?
The Independent Voice Project’s mission is to insist on more transparency and truth in talk and all forms of media. We hope to show others there is interest in supporting media when it’s done in a fair and upfront manner. Other media outlets will follow suit if they see folks like you backing efforts like this one. In other words, if they see it as financial viable, they’ll be more transparent! So who is here to tell the media that we’re not interested in spin or bias or talking point nonsense? Who is here to tell people they should have a fair voice in media?
We are. The Independent Voice Project. Join us.
Why ‘seeing through the media’ is so imporant.
Why should it matter when you’re watching a newscast or listening to talk radio that you know more ‘behind the scenes’ information?
Real-life examples of shuttered media have been there for years. Take the TV news managers some weeks ago, who thought it was OK to call the campaign people of a local candidate to offer jokes about ways they could implicate their rival in fake scandals. Bad enough if coming from campaign staffers-but from the local TV newsroom? It should never happen. Media just has to be more transparent. They have to explain coverage dilemmas that make their jobs difficult.
More news managers need to show when they are being fair, too: “We put ‘reporter A’ on that story because our usual business reporter is a part-owner of that company and we wanted to avoid the potential conflict-of-interest”. This type of transparency is not only what people deserve, but it would also earn loyal viewers and listeners.
The alternative is what we have. News people afraid to stray from the ‘talking points. Afraid that listeners and viewers have been trained to expect the daily dose of what now passes for content. Afraid that people are no longer open-minded enough to handle the truth.

Independent Voice: Takes 2 Sides
“As we push for others to be transparent, it’s only fair that we stay open-minded as media consumers as well. The more we show a hunger for blunt truth and transparency in media, the more tolerance we should have for the raw truth we may get as a result!.”
